Wolf Oak Acres and the Balloons & Bounty Festival have been responsible for an economic impact on the local economy of  $1.6 million in 2011 alone, and over $4 million since their inception in 2008 (as determined by Empire State Development and Economic Impact Studies of Tourism in NY -conducted by Tourism Economics).  For the past 4 years Wolf Oak Acres has given the community an event to be proud of.

This 180 acre farm located just 4 miles south of rte 5 in Oneida, attracts thousands of attendees during their seasonal corn maze and harvest festival (from mid September through Halloween) each year.  Featuring a pumpkin patch, corn maze, gem mining, cow train, pedal karts and many more hands on activities for people of all ages, this farm strives to bring a new, fun, educational agricultural experience to its’ visitors.

During their typical season a few major events occur.  This year a FARM TO FORK dinner is planned for Friday, September 14.  This will be a showcase of gourmet delicacies served in a 4 course dinner,  all created from a local chef utilizing only the best in local foods.  All menu items are direct from farms and producers throughout Madison and Oneida County, and will be prepared into mouthwatering cuisine by chef Victor Ramirez (Madison County Catering).  Limited tickets will be available to the public.  Many of the participating producers will be guest speakers, including: Owera Vineyards, Good Nature Brewing, Aquavita Farms, as well as the chef, hosts, and additional tourism and agricultural groups.

One of the area’s largest special needs resource festivals takes place the opening weekend – September 22&23.  Featuring nearly 2 dozen non profits from a 6 county radius, the weekend helps to highlight area resources available for special needs families.  Pony rides, handicapped fishing derbies, puppet shows, meet n greet therapy animals,  and more will all be taking place in addition to the regular festival activities.

Balloons and Bounty has become one of CNY’s largest combined hot air balloon and Pride of NY events.  The festival consistently draws visitors from a dozen states and Canada annually, and brings in a variety of quality live music, artisans, crafters, and farm market vendors from across the state to participate in the state registered farm market and hot air balloon festival over the 4 day Columbus weekend. 2011 saw attendance records at 12,000 for this weekend alone.

The primary source of funding for the Balloons & Bounty Festival, as well as the rest of the festival season, comes from local and corporate sponsorships, which are used for production and promotion expenses.  The festival receives no governmental funding or grants.  Many local businesses are partnering with the farm to obtain advertising – helping to highlight area attractions, services, and tourism destinations while the visitors are here in the local region. On average Wolf Oak Acres caters to 20-30,000 visitors during their short fall season.  By supporting events such as this festival – we are helping to strengthen our local economy and businesses, and highlight the great things Madison and Oneida Counties can offer.
