Cazenovia Artisans is taking the opportunity presented by American Craft Week, October 5-12, to announce a series of events designed to "give back to the community that's been so supportive of us over the years," according to Marilyn Fegan, marketing chairperson, as it gears up to celebrate it tenth anniversary.

With its tenth anniversary coming up less than a month after the nationally celebrated American Craft Week, the nearly 30 local artists who comprise Cazenovia Artisans are taking advantage of the celebration to share with the community at large.

A keystone activity for the co-op of local artists is participation in the Cazenovia Art Trails the first two Saturdays in October.

Five artists will be demonstrating their respective art. On the first Saturday, October 6, Barbara Decker, a weaver, will work on a small loom from 10 am - 2 pm. Jeweler Dee Ann Von Hunke will demonstrate stone cutting between 1 and 5 pm, and Shawn McGuire, a ceramic artist will use a potter's kick wheel out front on the sidewalk from noon to 4 pm.

The next weekend, Oct 13, Quilter Sue Ellen Romanowski, will demonstrate machine quilting between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm, while and Deb Green, a wildlife sculptor, will demonstrate porcelain sculpture from 2 -4 pm.

The Cazenovia Artisans doesn't normally have sales, according to Fegan, however in celebration of its Tenth Anniversary, Saturday, November 10, will feature an all-day reception along with a ten percent discount on all artwork in the gallery.  Throughout the month each Saturday will the artisans will host receptions open to the public.

In addition to the scheduled demonstrations, individual artists are regularly on hand at the co-op's gallery at 39 Albany St., Cazenovia, to answer questions and discuss their art with visitors.
