Hop plants potted in April are ready to be planted. Hop plants reach maturity and maximum production within three years, so now is the time to purchase your very own rather than waiting until September to take advantage of their full growth potential over the summer. Please call Norm Dann at 315.380.9389 to purchase your $5 hop plant. All proceeds from the sale of the hop plants go to the Madison County Historical Society.
The Madison County Historical Society’s 16h Annual Hop Fest is September 16-18. The weekend begins Friday, September 16 with a paired beer dinner at Ye Olde Landmark Tavern in Bouckville. On Saturday, September 17, at 11 am, at the Madison County Historical Society, there will be video presentations on a variety of hop related topics. From 12-2 pm will be the popular, Taste of Hops: a food and beer pairing. We are pleased to have the following restaurants participating so far: The Colgate Inn, Hamilton Inn, Ye Olde Landmark Tavern, Leandro’s Restaurant and Sports Bar, and Rusch’s Bar and Grill. From 2:30-5:30 pm, join us under the beer tent for samplings from some of your favorite craft breweries.
Advance sale tickets for all Hop Fest weekend activities will be available online at the society’s website and at participating locations in July! There is no admission to attend the Hop Fest. There is an admission fee for the beer sampling, Taste of Hops, Paired Beer Dinner and Hop Kiln Tour.
