Witness the wonder at The Great Swamp Conservancy, Inc. in Canastota, hosting its 13th Annual Spring Migration Nature Art, Craft and Children's Festival on May 7th & 8th. Please join us in celebration of nature with the rebirth of spring and the return of thousands of migratory birds to Central N.Y.. This annual festival will feature nature artists and crafters. Some of the mediums represented are watercolors, oils, acrylic, pottery, scanography, woodworking, jewelry, and photography with a wildlife theme.
"Talons", and Wood Creek Reptiles will be at the 2 day event for hands on performances that will educate, entertain and amaze children and adults. "Talons" is an experience of flying hawks, owls and falcons. A hands on thrill with trained raptors by owners Master Class Falconer Lorrie Schumacher and her daughter. This birds of prey program is absolutely unforgettable!! Hawks and owls that fly free to your gloved hand. Wood Creek Reptiles exhibit and live presentations consist of up to 20 caged reptiles with an interactive, hands on educational experience. Learn about the geography, food chains, conservation and ecology with the selection of reptiles from around the globe. Bill Woodruff is the educator/owner of this reptile menagerie. May 8th, at 1:30 pm will be the only showing of The Living Collection with their wolf, arctic fox and red fox, promoting awareness about endangered and native canines(2 -half hour shows). This high energy, interactive program has been on Rachel Ray and Bridge Street TV shows.
Conservation, environmental and wildlife displays, hands on activities for children, an Overlook adventure, Canastota Cut Glass raffle, food, music, and much more will be at the Great Swamp Conservancy. Come and enjoy the great outdoors, learn about our CNY wetlands and wildlife, see and hear wildlife. Suggested donation:$3/adult and $1/child under 12. GSC members receive a reduced admission.
