Great Weather, and a Great Weekend 05/20/2010
![]() Event season is in full swing across Madison County and this weekend there are a ton of things for you and your family to do. You will find farmer's markets in Cazenovia and Hamilton, and this Saturday the new summer flea and farmer's market in Oneida opens for the season. You will find it in front of Oneida Commons in the parking lot behind the Kallet Theater. Of course why not see what all the fuss is about at the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum. They won an award from the National Parks System this week, so it only figures you need to get down there this weekend to congratulate them. We will have more great ideas for your weekend after the jump..... Here are your top events in Madison County this weekend. Of course remember to check out all of our events on our calendar of events. 1. Take a hike on the Link Trail. Enjoy a pleasant Sunday afternoon hike on the Link Trail from Carpenter Road to Route 80 and return. A few years ago we saw a baby fawn in this section. Let's keep our eyes open and see what we can find this time. This is a joint hike with ADK-ON. Meet at 11:30 am at the parking lot on the south end of Cazenovia Lake. Round trip distance is approx. 5 miles and the hike is of moderate intensity. 2. A Hunt for Traces of Cazenovia Village’s Railroads 10 am to noon on Saturday. Park at Village garage off Williams St. All aboard for an eye-opening historic tour of two railroad lines that ran through the village in the last century. Led by Gene Gissin, we will review old photos of the railroads and then go on a hunt to discover the remnants of trestles, bridges, mills and other features of this part of Cazenovia history. This great event is put on by the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation. 3. Can it get any more fun that an Alpaca Shearing Festival? I think not. Divine Nature Wildlife Rehabilitation will be holding this great event sponsored by and held at BMR Acres at 2542 Pine Ridge Road in Canastota, NY from 9-3.
