Best Bets for November 8 and 9 11/07/2008
0 Comments

It is an arts filled weekend in Madison County along with your last chance to hit the farmer's market in Cazenovia until next spring.  Here are your best bets for this upcoming weekend:
Art of the Oneida Community and Its Children-- The Oneida Community in Upstate New York was one of America's most successful socialist utopias. While its historic importance is undoubted, few know that it was also a seedbed for future artistic expression. This exhibit surveys the artistic milieu of the Oneida Community and a remarkable body of art created in the early twentieth-century by children of the Community. Exhibit includes oil paintings on canvas and board, photographs, etchings, wood engravings, compositions from braidings, scrapbooks, and silhouette drawings.

The Cazenovia College Art Gallery presents Atelier Four  -- The Cazenovia College Art Gallery presents Atelier Four: an exhibition by four printmakers, Amy Buchholz, Bruce Muirhead, Jake Muirhead and William Salzillo. The Cazenovia College Art Gallery is on the corner of Sullivan and Seminary streets in Cazenovia. Hours are Saturday and Sunday, 2-6 p.m.

Cazenovia Farmers Market -- This is your last chance to visit the open-air market in the heart of the historic business district. Featuring locally grown produce and handmade arts and crafts.  Open 9am-5pm on Saturday.

Boynton Book Sing-Along - -11 am on Saturday at the Palace Theater, 19 Utica St. Children of all ages are invited to learn and sing silly songs from the best-selling children's books of Sandra Boynton. Local musicians will lead children in singing preposterous tunes featured in "Blue Moo", the Grammy-Nominated "Philadelphia Chickens", and "Rhinoceros Tap". Admission to this event is free. Sponsored by the Palace Theater and the Colgate Bookstore.

Anonymous 4 @ Colgate -- Christian A Johnson Endeavor Foundation Artists-In-Residence. Shall we gather? Sacred song from medieval England to early America. Show begins at 3:30pm in the Chapel Sunday afternoon.
