2.Coffee House for Habitat -- Music, coffee & sweet feasting to benefit the Habitat for Humanity Chittenango Build. When: Sat. 3. Get out and take a hike -- Follow the path of the Link Trail, or visit Oxbow Falls County Park or take a ramble down the gorge at Chittenango Falls State Park.  It will be a perfect weekend to get out and enjoy the sites.  Don't forget your camera and make sure you enter your spring photos in the photo contest

Today marks the first day of spring and the signs are all around Madison County.  From the melting piles of snow to the odd pockets of green starting to appear.  Nothing says spring in Central New York State like Maple Syrup.  For hundreds of years, farmers, and the Native Americans who lived here before them, have been tapping maple trees to collect the sap that runs clear in the spring time.  They then boil that sap down to create the sweet yummy goodness that we put on our pancakes year round.  There is nothing like the taste of sweet pure Maple Syrup.  Spring is also the time of year where you can tour farms as they boil down the sap and make wonderful products from maple candy to maple butter.  Open for tours this weekend is Critz Farm in Cazenovia.  Enjoy a pancake meal and tour the sugar bush on a wagon ride.  It is a perfect family day that will cost you very little.  Next weekend is the state-wide maple weekend.  Just another great opportunity to get out, enjoy spring and don't forget to take those photos and enter our photo contest to win a hot air balloon ride from Airborne Adventures and an escape from the Brae Loch Inn.

Warm days and cold nights mean the sap is running through the maple trees in the local sugar bushes.  Maple Syrup season is in full swing across Madison County with hundreds of gallons of sweet syrup already boiled and bottled.  This weekend you can visit Critz Farms in Cazenovia and enjoy a warm pancake breakfast with 100% natural syrup boiled right on site.  Then tour the sugar house to learn how maple syrup is made.  It will be a fun trip for the entire family.
