Snowmobiliers and Skiers have been given a huge gift from Lake Ontario this weekend in Madison County.  Over 14 inches of fluffy white snow has fallen in the county opening all snowmobile trails and giving a boost to the trails at Toggenburg Mountain Ski area.
Snowmobiliers will find trail conditions in excellent shape although grooming has yet to be accomplished in all places.  Use care and dress warmly as wind-chills are below 0.

Well the winter storm that has plagued the middle of the country is headed our way dumping much needed fresh snow on the  trails.  The forecast is for 6-10 inches across most of Madison County.  This should freshen up and smooth out the trails.  we have been quite lucky with the weather this year, but the lack of fresh snow over the past two to three days has caused the trails to become choppy.  This snow should fix that and the groomers will be out in force to smooth everything out.  Ride safe!

Trail Update 01/19/2009

The frozen weather has been great for the snowmobile trails.  Most of the trails are groomed and in excellent condition.  The forecast for this week is perfect with below freezing temps and a little snow each day to keep the trails covered.  For more detail click on the links to the right and happy riding!

Six more inches of snow fell last night in Chittenango with a little more the further south you go in Madison County.  The snowmobile trails are open and in great shape.  The rain earlier this week served to create a frozen base and the new snow on top has created outstanding snowmobiling conditions.  Don't forget to order your snowmobile map from us and enjoy safe sledding.

If riding is not your cup of tea, you might think about heading out for snowshoeing this weekend.  Madison County offers miles of trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing.  You can check out many of the area trails right here.  My two favorite spots to go are the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park in Cazenovia and the Great Swamp Conservancy in Canastota.  Both places give you ample opportunities to get out and enjoy the beautiful winterside in Madison County.  Take you camera and send us some pictures of your adventure and we will post them right here!

The storm that moved through Central New York last night dropped 6-10 inches of snow across most of Madison County.  As of this afternoon, many of the trails have reopened.  Due to the recent warm temps, you will find some open water.   Ride responsibly and safely, take it easy on the trails and enjoy!

Trails Closed 12/29/2008

As of Monday Morning, the weekend's warm weather doomed the trails and bodies of water in the county.  Trails are closed until some new snow falls.

Trail Update 12/25/2008

Merry Christmas.  If you got that new snowmobile for Christmas this morning, I can imagine you are itching to get out and try it.  The trails took a beating yesterday from 45 degree temps and some rain.  Check ahead before heading out, and be aware that many trails will be closed and water will be open to be careful.  Follow the links on the right for up to date trail information and snow depths and enjoy your Christmas.

A note came in this morning from Stephanie at Drover Hill Farm B&B.  They are located in Earlville only minutes from Hamilton and Colgate University.  She wanted to remind me that they are less than a mile from one of the main trails in the southern part of Madison County.  They wanted to offer a special to snowmobilers this winter.  Stay two nights at their awesome country B&B and get the third night absoulutley free.  Ride for hundreds of  miles in every direction and save on your hotel stay.  With a foot of new snow on the ground, now is the time to book your deal.

9-12 inches of white fluffy snow fell across most of Madison County last night.  The trails are in great shape and the riding should be outstanding today and tomorrow until the next storm system moves in.  Don't forget to order you snowmobile maps.

Trail Update 12/21/2008

Another three to five inches of new snow fell this morning in Madison County.  That brings the total from this weekend to 8-12 inches in most places.  The majority of trails across the county are open and in good condition.  Keep checking back for updates, but the weather forecast says white Christmas and that is perfect for a snowmobile holiday.
