Come join rising local talent Joe Mettler (folk/roots) opening for the Brooklyn based duo Courtesy Tier (blues/rock/jazz) fresh from playing SXSW in Austin Texas.  Both these talents can be found on the new album "Treasures in the Heart of NY Volume II."  Hard copies of the CD will be available for purchase.  100% of proceeds go to the Food Cupboards of Upstate NY.  There will also be a raffle of local and baked goods during the evening.  We will also be accepting donations of canned goods, non perishables, laundry soap, diapers, un-opened tooth-brushes, toothpaste etc...

"Treasures in the Heart of NY Volume II" includes 21 original or traditional tracks.  The album consists of many local artists, musicians formerly from CNY and bands with ties to the area. Included this year are; Fetish Lane, Chris Joyce, Lady Clown (featuring Geoff Kraly), Pamme Swan, McMule, Jason Lefevre, The Sapphire Trio (featuring John Murphy), Courtesy Tier, Nate Gross, Chris "Isto" White, Edwin Vollmer, The Easy Ramblers, Blaine Holcomlb, James Wunderlich, Williams Road, Ryan Hoopes, Flyinfisch', Matthew Hinsley, Lost Limber and Crooning Buffalo (featuring Joe Mettler and Brendan O'Connor).  These artists represent everything from Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, Americana, Reggae, Singer/Songwriter, Classical Guitar, Folk, Blues and Rock.

With large cuts in CNY's Food Cupboard/Pantries funding, it is important now more than ever to help the 1 in 6 families that are food insecure.  The rise in prices of basic groceries and the rise of job insecurity are two major reasons why we need to keep supporting our local Food Cupboards/Pantries.

Not only does this project help families, but it also helps spread the great music we have locally an regionally. Please donate with dignity and support local and live music! For more information please contact Sean Nevison: csnevison@gmail.com

In the last year MiZ has opened for Bob Dylan, Derek Trucks Band, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Blues Traveler, Shawn Colvin, Leon Russell, Railroad Earth and many more. Mike has played over 450 shows since 2010 spanning from Germany - Northern Canada - Los Angeles - Austin, Texas - New York City and everywhere in between.

Chris White is a guitarist/singer/composer
originally from Hamilton, NY. He currently
lives in Brooklyn, where he teaches guitar
and performs under the stage name “Isto”.
Although he has written hundreds of songs
and plays in a large variety of different
styles, he is most well known for his
interpretations of jazz and pop standards and for his silly original songs. He performs regularly at the Roots and Ruckus Showcase in Brooklyn, where he performs songs by people whose birthday it is. It is not uncommon for him to sing in strange voices.
If you haven’t experienced one of Chris’ shows yet you’re sure to be amazed! If you have seen him before you know that this is a show you won’t want to miss.

_ Every so often, just when you think the well is dry and the tradition is dead, you are gratefully reminded that there is still water down there and that the tradition was only sleeping. Morgan O’Kane from Charlottesville, Virginia is one of those reminders. A virtuoso banjo player, shouter and activist now based in  New York City, Morgan recalls two other transplanted legendary southern artists; Reverend Gary Davis and Aunt Molly Jackson. Like the reverend, Morgan honed his skills making a living as a busking street artist. Like Aunt Molly, he has kept his connection to his Appalachian home and its issues, taking part in the campaign to ban mountaintop removal mining, which destroys the land and the people who live on it.

“If Jimi Hendrix played the banjo, he might resemble O’Kane, a high-intensity musician who looks like a mechanic in a rural gas station, sings like a man possessed and plays mountain music like it was an avalanche” - Robert Reid, The Record

While Morgan  O’kane clearly knows his way around the old tunes, he is more interested in creating his own. That’s how the tradition survives – new songs being created on old foundations. This ain’t no revival; this is a contemporary artist who knows where he comes from.

One of the hottest and most recognized western swing acts will take to the Catherine Cummings Stage in Cazenovia on October 2nd at 8pm.

Live Space Entertainment in association with Cazenovia College presents the Austin-based Western Swing trio Hot Club of Cowtown live on stage at Catherine Cummings Theater in Cazenovia Sunday October 2nd at 8:00 PM. Central New York singer/guitarist Loren Barrigar will open the show.

Since their debut in 1998, the Hot Club of Cowtown has grown to be the most globe-trotting, hardest swinging western swing trio on the planet.  The first American band to tour Azerbaijan, they have opened stadiums for Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson and continue to bring their brand of western swing to audiences around the world.  But for guitarist Whit Smith, fiddler/vocalist Elana James, and bassist Jake Erwin it has always been about staying true to their roots.  Neil Strauss in the New York Times wrote:”…..conscious always that above all else, the music is for dancing and an old-fashioned good time.”

In addition to touring and recording, the Hot Club of Cowtown has been heard often on national radio programs such as Mountain Stage, World Café, A Prairie Home Companion, All things Considered and BBC Live (UK).

Multi-SAMMY Award winner Loren Barrigar will bring his fan-friendly show featuring his special brand of song-writing and exceptional guitar work to the concert.  He is the youngest instrumentalist to appear on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN.  Loren was just six years old when he performed with Jim Ed Brown and Minnie Pearl in 1968.

He has since produced and recorded a number of critically- acclaimed CD’s, and has had his tunes appear on TV shows such as “ER,” “Young and the Restless,” and on CD’s featuring BB King and Patti Labelle.  He recently completed a tour and CD with New Zealander Mark Mazengarb.  He has also performed many times with Australian guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel.
