The past couple of years has seen a recent explosion in the number of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms in Madison County. Most of these farms have specialized in vegetables, eggs, cheese etc. Now a group of local farmers has launched a meat CSA including pork and beef deliveries on a regular basis. The Madison County Ag Economic Development (AED) program is very pleased to announce that the Side Hill Farmers have officially launched their local meat delivery service, also known as a meat CSA. Check it out here: www.sidehillfarmers.com This is an exciting new business that allows local people to buy meat directly from Madison County farmers. The Poolville Winter Farmers’ Market returns on December 10 from 10am to noon at the Poolville Community Center. This month the market welcomes guest chefs Charles Wilburn and Roger Foster from the Poolville Country Store to the cafe, as well as more farmers and local artisans. Drover Hill Farm, Evans Farmhouse Creamery, Jewett’s Cheese House, Sunfed Beef, Szarek Farms, and Utica Coffee Roasting Company will join the amazing lineup of over 20 local food producers. Local artisans featuring their work just in time for the holiday season will include Denise Leone, Beth duBois, Goat Lady Soap, and Denise Timms. The market will be the perfect spot to buy fresh food, enjoy a warm delicious lunch and a cup of freshly roasted coffee, and find locally produced presents for friends and family.
